Howdy friends. Do you want to be able to live an active life when you’re 60? How about 80 or 90? Did you know that what you put into your body has a lot to do with how good you feel and how long you live? Want to know one simple way that may increase your lifespan, or at the very least minimize or avoid complications altogether when you get older? If you are interested, then read on.

A lot of people don’t really care if they eat organic or not, but it makes a bigger difference than you might think. Try and think of your body as your bedroom. Every time you eat a Big Mac it’s like throwing up on your bed. Every time you eat something processed or inorganic it’s like taking a dump on your new carpet. If you never clean up your room/body and keep littering, one day you won’t be able to get to the opposite side of your room. This is synonymous with small diseases such as allergies, fatigue, brain fog, and irregular bowel habits which later leads to bigger ones such as heart attack, cancer, gastrointestinal diseases, a compromised immune system etc. not to mention a ton of stress, (and we all know life is stressful enough already)-all of which you can get from eating the wrong types of “foods.”Everything adds up in the long run whether you want to recognize it or not.

One common argument I hear is that everyone will get cancer so they don’t care about consuming GM (genetically modified) foods. Even though there are many hard to avoid factors that contribute to cancer (and other diseases) such as air pollution and exposure to other harmful substances, here is one factor that you CAN easily control (and you will feel the difference).

It may be the one factor that helps you avoid most diseases.

My favorite one is that “we all die.” Yes I realize that we all die but do you want to die slow, painfully, and broke? Also, eating unhealthily while you’re young may lead to, as aforementioned, many diseases which will lead to the deterioration in your quality of life. Yes folks, “quality of life” is real. Ask anyone with complications from allergies to irregular bowel habits how their quality of life is like living with a disease, and the answer won’t be lemon drops and lollipops.
Their answer will be something closer to “sh*t drops, and there’s nothing I can do about it”. On the other hand, I’ve seen numerous people well into their 60s, 70s, 80s, and even 90s who have an extremely satisfying quality of life. The key to their success lies in how they treat their bodies. There are two main physical components that will dictate your quality of life: genetics and environment. You can’t control what genes your parents give you but you can control what environment you put your body through to a certain extent. You may never get cancer in your lifetime or you might have super-human genes but why take the risk?

Another popular complaint I hear is that organic foods are too expensive. Conventionally grown foods (the most common type and usually not organic) may seem cheaper but there are many hidden costs in producing them such as billions of dollars in annual subsidies.

The cost on our health stems from the fact that the active ingredients in the large majority of pesticides used are carcinogenic (cancer causing). The use of pesticides isn’t only harmful to us, it is also harmful to water supplies, the workers, animals (and those we eat), and the environment in general. OK so you might think “Yeah yeah who cares about that stuff. I mean organic foods COST more to me and my bank account.” It doesn’t cost more if you take into account the cost of your health and the money you’ll have to spend for medication and trips to the doctor when your body fails. Eating organic and having a healthy lifestyle is the best health insurance you can get.

It’s an issue of personal responsibility just like everything else. Are you just going to eat what tastes good with no regards to what it does to your body or are you going to do what’s best for yourself and others? If you are lucky enough to have someone take care of you, you should realize how taxing it is on them as well. And if you don’t have anyone you’ll know how taxing it is on your resources.

Have you ever wondered what those numbers on the stickers of fruits and vegetables meant?
The numbers tell you how the fruit was grown.
Fruits with stickers starting with a 9 means it is organic.
If it starts with a 4, the fruit was conventionally grown.
8 means it’s genetically modified.

Besides, there is a distinct rich flavor in organic foods. It’s like a party in your mouth.

Health is a choice. Remember, every small thing adds up whether you want to recognize it or not.

Haha. Anyone else remember this episode? Old cartoons are awesome!

Bad start:

When I was 7, I went to a doctor for my insane allergies (I was never able to really breath through my nose for about 18 years and always had to have a pocket of tissues) and remembered that he/she suggested that I take noni juice. That was the only time I can remember that a doctor had suggested a natural “supplement” to fix my problems. Anyway, I remember taking it once during that time and thought it tasted pretty bad and did not think it would really work so I stopped. I started using nose sprays but nothing worked. My allergies and health problems continued and got a lot worse for another 11 years or so. I would get sick just about every month for about a week minimum per month and conditions at home and school made it worse. Not one doctor had ever made me feel better and all the medication and vaccines were completely useless to me/might have made things even worse and was a complete waste of time and  money. For some reason, it never occurred to me that what I ate had such a great effect on my health; not only that, but how most of the foods I ate were extremely harmful to my health. I grew up pretty much my whole life without home cooked meals. I’d eat TV dinners and fast foods everyday, literally. I remember eating about 5 McDonalds hamburgers and 3-5 TV dinners a day for the longest time.

The first positive/semi positive  move I made started when I was about 11. I started playing basketball and weight lifting everyday. I didn’t know what health was back then (thought it was all physical) and thought if I did those things, it would be good enough and being strong seemed pretty cool. Even though I was severely underweight, I did become strong for my size (but never looked like it), but even so, my overall health was still real bad.

Stress and food:

In high school I stopped playing basketball for a while and concentrated on running and weight lifting. I’d weight lift everyday at home and everyday during lunch time. On the weekends I would wake up at 5-6 A.M. and go running. I was running about 6 to 6 min. 30 second miles, benching 115 lbs over my weight at 225 lbs., curling 30s with ease.

But still, with the combination of extreme stress from home and school (see my entry about school/education; in progress), negative mindset and poor nutrition, I still got real sick.

After my second year of college, things got extremely bad. I kept up with bodybuilding but just like in high school I thought about suicide frequently and every aspect of life seemed to be getting harder or worse. Eventually parts of my body shut down and I thought I was going to die. My liver, intestines, immune almost stopped working completely and I took about a year off from school to heal. I was in bed for many many months and it was even hard to sleep and eat from the complications. I went to see about 7 doctors. None could help. One even straight out called me stupid for doing research and taking notes on my symptoms. It was during this time that I stopped trusting doctors or even thinking that they could/wanted to help (I know this doesn’t apply to all doctors and there are probably a lot with good hearts who want to help people, but just not in my case/experiences). All I did every night was pray. And in the morning I’d research everything about health and various diseases.

This is when I really looked into all the good foods and practices. some of the first things I started using were probiotics, chlorella, spirulina, and Chinese medicine which all really helped. It took a long time but my body finally healed itself for the most part with the help of these things along with daily exercise.

I also noticed how my mood directly affected my health. Whenever I got mad, my immune system would drop immediately, which was a strong incentive to stay positive.

After transferring to a much better college, life and health became a lot more stable. For once I feel like I could concentrate and get things done without any hindrances.

One of the things I use that I believe really helps my health is noni juice, the stuff that was suggested by the doctor when I was 7. I take a couple spoonfuls every morning on an empty stomach or mix it with my morning shake, sometimes taking a break from it after a few weeks and then repeating the process. I notice that it clears my allergy problems almost immediately and higher energy levels. I’ve also been able to get better rest when I take it.

The brand of noni juice I take now is by Dynamic Health. I usually take another brand but I wanted to try this one out since it was also organic with nothing added and was better priced. The taste and smell was nothing I had experienced or expected. This bad boy has a very putrid/sour/rotten/fermented/deadly smell and the taste is just as bad.  After I finish this bottle I’m switching back to the old brand. Oh yeah, I know there’s lots of negative claims about noni juice but I believe that everyone’s body responds to things differently so the best thing is to do in my opinion is to do some research, use it as reference, and try it for yourself.

I’m still learning and I know there’s still a lot to learn so that’s all for now folks.
